A group of experts and hydraulic engineers from Cuba came into Haiti last Monday to begin analysis on a 3-phase project to repair and extend water networks across the northern departments of Haiti.

The project is financed by the Spanish Cooperation and the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) and will run from 2019 to 2028. The first two of three phases will focus on the rehabilitation of the water network in Cap-Haitien.

Guito Edouard, the Director General of Haiti's National Direction of Drinking Water and Sanitation (DINEPA) said that the project will bring water to the neighborhoods along Route de Bel-Air from A Street to L Street. This neighborhood has been deprived of water.

In 2017, 21 DINEPA trainees traveled to Cuba for training in the field of hydraulic and mechanical engineering. The bilateral cooperation of the two countries in this domain has been longstanding.
