Embassy Officials Take Support to Abaco and Freeport Bahamas

Officials at the Haitian Embassy in Nassau flew in supplies to Freeport and the region of Marsh Harbour on the Abaco islands where a strong Haitian community is said to reside.

The outgoing-Minister of Foreign Affairs posted to his Twitter account photos of pallets of food and hygeine supplies. In the post he writes that the diplomats in Nassau will be bringing it to compatriots in those areas.

A great number of Haitians, who may or may not be documented in the Bahamas, risk being ignored by local authorities, perhaps focused on rescuing their citizens.

In an article published Sunday in Le Nouvelliste, the Charge d'Affaires for Haiti in Nassau expressed his doubts that the authorities in the Bahamas were being truthful in their figures of victims and those in need.
