At Least 100 Makeshift Homes Destroyed in Grand'Anse Following Strong Winds

The Directorate of Civil Protection (DPC) is reporting significant material damage after a night of strong winds in the evening of August 16 to 17. Provisional figures topped 100 makeshift homes spread across several municipalities in the Department of Grand'Anse.

According to a report of the DPC published on Saturday, August 17, the information shows significant agricultural losses in several communes, radio station towers, disabled, and a hundred makeshift houses destroyed, particularly in the communal section of Fonds-Rouge in Jérémie. Radio Orbite and Radio Extension are down.
