Court of Auditors Sud'Est Bureau Burned, Arson Suspected

As the Supreme Court of Auditors and Administrative Disputes (CSCCA) works to present the final part to the Petrocaribe audit investigations, the South East bureau offices of the court were set on fire early Thursday morning.

It was around two (2) o'clock in the morning, November 7, 2019, that the fire broke out at the premises housing the departmental office of the Sud'Est of the CSCCA in Jacmel. According to the first pieces of information available, this would be a premeditated criminal offense.

The disaster ravaged everything, whether it was office equipment and furniture or important documents that were in the building.

This drama comes at a time when voices continue to rise to demand the administrative court, headquartered in Port-au-Prince, to release the publication of the remaining 25% of the report on the squandering PetroCaribe funds.

The second and most recent report on Petrocaribe, released in February of this year, was most damaging to the Jovenel Moïse administration. In that report, the Haitian Head of State was cited 69 for having laundered hundreds of millions of dollars, created shell companies, and obtained irregular contracts for work never done.
