Haiti Fuel Distributors Throttling Gasoline Supplies, Purposefully

Confirmed by workers at the DINASA Thor terminal in Port-au-Prince, 140,000 barrels of petroleum products are sitting aboard a ship in the port but gas companies do not plan to unload it.

Despite assurances made all over the press this week, even as late as Wednesday night, by outgoing-Prime Minister Jean Michel Lapin that all stations will have fuel available, those promises will not be kept.

According to employees at Thor, distributors say they are not really in need of the 140,000 barrels because the quantity they currently have has not completely been sold.

This news further reaffirms reports The Haiti Sentinel continues to receive that former President Michel Martelly, through stakes gained in fuel distribution companies in Haiti, is using the scarcity of fuel as well as street violence to force a change at prime minister to regain his power in Haiti's ministries and government agencies.
