Newly Appointed Haitian Minister of Culture Dies at 51
OTTAWA, Canada (defend.ht) - A newly appointed minister, the Minister of Culture and Communication, Choiseul Henriquez, passed away Friday at a hospital in Canada at the age of 51.
Appointed last month, in October, the President Michel Martelly, learned with sadness of the death of Mr. Henriquez Choiseul and issued a press release which read:
"The Presidency and the government have their sympathies to relatives and friends of the Minister Henriquez. With the early departure of the holder of Culture and Communication, the country loses a son of the lively desire to support the new government in the way of change as desired by the people of Haiti."
Mr. Henriquez suffered for some time from diabetes and hypertension the Office of the President said on Saturday. He was admitted to Ottawa Civic Hospital (Canada), on Friday, following hemorrhaging of the brain.
