2016 Miss Universe contestants in Haiti for country’s next crowning

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti ( – After the visit of Iris Mittenaere, Miss Universe 2016, in April, Haiti received Friday, August 11 two other competitors of the 2016 edition of Miss Universe. At the invitation of Raquel Pélissier, first runner-up Miss Haiti 2016, Chanelle Delau, Miss Universe Curaçao 2016, and Brenda Azaria, Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016, were received in Haiti for a visit of 4 days to take part in a karaoke party with the contestants vying to be Miss Haiti 2017.


“I invited them because we got along very well during the Miss Universe contest and also to strengthen the ties with our misses from the Caribbean,” Raquel Pélissier told Ticket. Our Miss, who never luggage for too long in a country, would like to help inspire the young candidates of Miss Haiti 2017, while awakening even more the interest of the Haitian public for beauty contests.

Several activities are planned to mark the passage of Chanelle Delau, Miss Universe Curaçao 2016, and Brenda Azaria, Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2016, in Haiti. Raquel Pélissier, who is in the country, will be welcoming guests to the airport before starting the busy program she has prepared for them. One afternoon in the mountains, a stop at the beach, on the Côte-des-Arcadins, and a special excursion on the island of La Gonâve are all activities to which the miss should indulge. But the highlight of their stay will be an evening to be held in Asù on Saturday, August 12, with the finalists of Miss Haiti 2017, Suzanna Sampeur, Miss World Haiti 2016, and singer J-Perry.

Moreover, our beauty queen, who was recently in Martinique for the election of the new Miss Martinique and in Guadeloupe at the rendezvous of fashion, does not intend to stop soon. “I intend to leave for Africa soon with an organization to which I am affiliated, Shashamane Sunrise, who works in Haiti and the Caribbean too, for a week of community service,” says Raquel, who is currently working on translation English of his book “The art of being beautiful in his skin” and the publication of the latter in Ebook on Amazon.
