PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – At the Senate offices on Thursday, the designated Prime Minister, Dr. Jack Guy Lafontant, appeared and filed his documents for confirmation. The paperwork filed by the doctor specializing in colonoscopies will be reviewed to see if he meets the Constitutional requirements to be the new head of the Haitian government.

The general secretary of the Senate, Dr. Rony Gilot, informed the press of having received virtually all parts required of a candidate for Prime Minister. These pieces, has he said, will be forwarded to the Senate office that, at its next plenary meeting is Tuesday, March 7, will be the special commission that will be responsible for examining their compliance with constitutional requirements. After that, the Prime Minister will be called to present the statement of its general policy to the general body.

In a short statement after completing the formality, Dr. Lafontant said he would soon be delivering his statement of policy to lawmakers, a step which follows the approval of his documents. The presentation of policy statement will also include the presentation of the new government. It will have to be ratified by both houses in order to officially install a new government.

Jack Guy Lafontant was chosen last week by his long-time patient, President Jovenel Moise, who opted for the man widely unknown in Haiti, nationally, let alone, in politics.
