PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – There is no question the designated prime minister, Dr. Jack Guy Lafontant, and the president of the republic are close. It was reported earlier the two have been close friends for 20 years, turns out the relationship goes further. President Jovenel Moise and the first lady have been patients of Lafontant, the gastroenterologist specializing in colonoscopy, throughout the time of their friendship.

President Moise surprised the nation when he chose the virtually unknown Dr. Lafontant, having no administrative or public service experience, to be the next prime minister. The administration would come into power while Haiti is facing serious challenges and it appears from newly released information, the president chose someone who has had his back over experience.

Dr. Lafontant also served as secretary general of the Democratic Movement of Haitian Liberation party (MODELH), which also goes by the name of The Democratic Union of Haiti Party (PRDH), in 2010. It is a party that was founded in the Dominican Republic on August 5, 1964 and has not had any candidates elected to public office in its history.
