PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – In a meeting hall at the Best Western Hotel in Port-au-Prince, Jovenel Moïse made his first declaration since becoming the official president-elect of Haiti. Mr. Moïse said the Haitian people chose “progress, democracy, political stability, national production and development”.

In a speech, Mr. Moïse who will become the 58th Head of State of Haiti sought to address all groups, those in Haiti and abroad, the rich and poor, those who supported his candidacy and those who did not. He said he would be relying on the experiences, knowledge and support of everyone in the country during his term as president, over the next five years.

The president-elect thanked his supporters, those present, those not present and some who have fallen on the path. He thanked former presidential candidates who dropped their bids to support his candidacy. He thanked his wife, who stood by him and who he says was his biggest strength.
