Many attend funeral for former President Michel Martelly’s mother

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – Former President Michel Martelly was accompanied by family, dignitaries, celebrities and other personalities as they laid to rest his mother, Marie Madeleine D. Martelly, on October 25, 2016.

Members of the former Martelly administration and current executives were also at Parc du Souvenir, Tabarre, where the funeral was held. The current president, Jocelerme Privert, as well as other living presidents passed or gave extended their condolences to the Martelly family.

Prime Minister Enex Jean-Charles, in a note, said he learned with great sadness the death of Madeleine De Pradines Martelly, mother of former President of the Republic, Michel Joseph Martelly, occurred on the night of Friday October 21 into Saturday, October 22, 2016, after a long period of illness bravely borne.

The PM wrote:

In these painful circumstances and in these moments of deep sadness, the present Prime Minister, on behalf of the Government of the Republic, and in its own name, extends its most heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of the deceased and, particularly, its words of sympathy to Mr. Michel Joseph Martelly.

Born De Pradines, Madeleine Martelly was the daughter of satirical singer, Candio. She had suffered for several years with an illness. She passed from life to death on the night of Friday 21 to Saturday, October 22, 2016 at the age of 84.
