Privert returns to Haiti early following UN General Assembly speech

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – President Jocelerme Privert was back in Haiti the morning after his declarations to the United Nations General Assembly where he called the assembly to eradicate cholera in Haiti and provide assistance to its victims. Privert returned to Haiti a lot earlier than the Sunday evening arrival previously reported by the National Palace, leading some to speculate he may have been ran out of New York for his pro-Haiti, anti-imperialist, position.

None the less, the Head of State’s actions in New York received a warm reception in Haiti and among its descendant living abroad. He capped his trip by giving another fiery pointed speech from the Diplomatic Room at the Toussaint Louverture International Airport in Port-au-Prince.

Key point made Saturday morning were that in his meetings, bi-lateral and multilateral, whether it be his short one-on-one with U.S. President Barack Obama, his meet up with the Dominican delegation or the meeting with the under secretary general of the UN, three subjects topped discussions:

  • Cholera
  • Elections
  • Migration
