Nerlens Noel on board for developing Basketball in Haiti

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – Philadelphia 76ers Power Forward, Nerlens Noel, visited Haiti on Friday where he and members of his organization held a meeting with the Ministry of Sports and Federation of Haitian Basketball around developing young talent in the country.

Less than 24 hours after receiving Mireya Luis Hernandez considered by the Federation Internationale de Volleyball, as the greatest volleyball player of all time, the Minister of Youth, Sports and Civic Action, Abel Nazaire welcomed this Friday, September 9, 2016 in the Annex to the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action (MJSAC) at Christmas Nerlens Brothers, NBA star, born of Haitian parents.

“I feel very honored to receive under my administration two athletes of Haitian descent senior volleyball and basketball,” the minister said Nazaire, who expressed, on behalf of President of the Republic, Jocelerme Privert, Prime Minister Enex Jean Charles and government, his pride to welcome these two great athletes who show so much attachment to this corner of land that gave birth to their parents.

Minister Nazaire did not fail to mention his fight for the development, through access to a sporting discipline, talented young people from disadvantaged neighborhoods.
“Our strength is our talent. With the talent we can achieve great things,” said Mr. Nazaire Nerlens Christmas that invites him to continue to progress and work on the development of the Haitian basketball.

For its part, the pivot of the Philadelphia 76ers, accompanied by his mother, Mrs. Dolcena Christmas, the president of the Haitian Federation of Basketball, Henri Joseph Jean, National Technical Director, Jason Valbrun to Valmera Pierre (Power Forward), of Jordan Flielgel and Olivier Henry expressed his love for Haiti and especially young Gonaives he said to possess great qualities to enable them to reach the professional level. It has also underlined the work already done for young people by the Power Forward organization and the Haitian Basketball Federation.

The holder of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Civic Action welcomes the commitment of all the great athletes of Haitian descent who want to contribute to the development of young talent in the country.
