PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – Dissatisfaction with the electoral cycle is building over the presence of Industrialist André Apaid in the electoral institution. Apaid has financed protests and coups in Haiti as a member of the Group 184. He was, last week, appointed as counselor to the Vote Tabulation Center (CTV).

René Monplaisir political activist for Verité platform, announces the organization this Friday, September 9, a peaceful march followed by a sit-in before the provisional electoral council to denounce what he called the suspicious presence of industrial André Apaid as a consultant in central tabulation (CTV).

The march will leave Carrefour de l’Aéroport to arrive in the vicinity of the CEP in Petion-Ville. René Monplaisir find abnormal that Mr. Apaid can dictate the CTV and invites the President of the Provisional Electoral Council, Leopold Berlanger, to take steps to rectify the situation.

For his part, the president of the New England Human Right Organizations Josué Renaud, said that the Haitian people will not accept any repeat of massive fraud recorded during the 2015 elections with the CEP Pierre-Louis Opont.

It is time for the country to organize fair and democratic elections without manipulation to favor the election of the best or the best, Mr. Renaud has launched that warns the president of the electoral organization and the other 8 members that they will be held responsible as for any harmful action that could plunge the country into chaos.

For the head of NEHRO, the nomination of Mr. Apaid as a consultant in station CTV raises legitimate suspicions, given his known political apartenance. He added that even when the industrialist would have the best intentions in the world today, the CEP should refrain from making such a decision in the current explosive situation and after what happened in 2015.

Josué Renaud warned that members of the current CEP follow the same route as their predecessors, if they decide to commit the same errors.

The secretary general of the human rights organization, Defenseur Plus, Anthonal Mortimé says for his part, having heard the allegations that Mr. Apaid would be a consultant at the CTV.

We are currently checking this information, said the human rights activist who do not however see in a positive light, the presence of industrial at the tabulation center, recalling that any consultant is to advise duty in its areas of skill.

It encourages political parties to be vigilant, lamenting also that changes requested by the independent commission electoral assessment in the electoral machine had not been made.

Several other sectors have warned against any maneuver that seeks to focus attention on the nomination of Mr. Apaid viewed with suspicion, while other groups would themselves put in place.
