Haiti producers top Dominican counterparts in EU video contest

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic (sentinel.ht) – Two young Haitian producers received first and second place in a Haiti versus Dominican Republic film competition where young Haitians and Dominicans were challenged to produce a video showing positive aspects of the Haiti-DR relationship.

1st Place – “Amour, Paix et amitié” – Aniberca Martes (Haïti)
2nd Place – “Philippe et Pamela” – Mykee Richarson (Haïti)
3rd Place – “La convivencia con respeto” – Wilmer Rosario (Dominican Republic)

According to Haiti Libre, the HT-RD Binational Program of the European Union is called Konnen’m Pi Byen, which translates to Know Me Better.

In this competition for young Haitians and Dominicans were to represent the positive aspects of the binational relationship between the two countries on the island, through the production of a video with a duration of 90 seconds.

Of the 45 videos received three . were selected the first two places were won by Haiti, the third by the Dominican Republic. winning Video: first Prize: Video: “Love, Peace and friendship” of Aniberca Martes (Haiti)

The Binational Program between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, funded by 50 million euros from the European Union, began in 2012. It aims in particular to strengthen . political, economic, trade and environmental cooperation between the two countries the challenge is to consolidate a sustainable and constructive partnership between the two nations for economic and social development. Key areas:

  • Institutional strengthening through support to both technical secretariats of the Joint Bilateral Commission and the establishment of a binational Observatory;
  • Trade facilitation and customs harmonization;
  • The environment and local development in border regions;
  • The construction and rehabilitation of infrastructure in the border zone to the north of both countries.
