Senate Ratifies New Police Chief, Michel-Ange Gédéon

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – After 6 months in interim status, the Senate of the Republic, on Thursday, ratified Michel-Ange Gédéon as Director General of the Haitian National Police (PNH). The new Council of the Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) was also ratified.

“The session ended at 9:00 PM. We have worked. This is the best moment I’ve had since the arrival of the 50th Legislature,” rejoiced Senator Steven Benoit, Vice-President of the Senate.

“I thank the senators who understood the need to give me all the necessary legitimacy to exercise that function. I promise to the Senate, the people, public opinion to do everything possible not to disappoint them. We will do our work in strict accordance with the law. Under our leadership, we mean that the police guard the neutrality it is supposed to have,” Michel-Ange Gédéon, now fully invested at the head of the police institution with a three-year term.

The BRH Council ratified is composed of Jean Baden Dubois as governor, George Henry Fils as vice governor, Fritz Duroseau as member , Ronald Gabriel as member and Georgette Jean-Louis as Director General.
