PORT-AU-PRINCE, Ouest, HT (sentinel.ht) – A new Electricity of Haiti (EDH) substation in Tabarre was opened on Friday to assist in ensuring a better flow of energy through previously congested grids in Canapé-Vert, Delmas, Varreux and Croix-des-Missions.
The President of the Republic, Jocelerme Privert, accompanied by the Minister of Public Works, Transport and Communications, Jacques Evelt Eveillard and the Director General of Electricity of Haiti (EDH), Engineer Garry Valdemar , participated in the opening.
The inauguration marks the entry into service of 115,000 KV, equipped with advanced technology and whose objective is to ensure a better flow of power and energy in metropolitan grids.
The project is implemented with funding of $16.4 million from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), and the work was done by Elmecen and AECOM companies with the supervision of ICP-Energy, MTPTC, and other partners. It will allow the Haitian State to attract revenue of up to $28 million.
In the presence of the Mayor of Tabarre, Ms. Simon Nice, representatives of the IDB, the IMSA firm has 11,700 m2 of land available to the Haitian government, the Head of State recalled that this work marks a important step in the state’s efforts to ensure the country’s energy security.
According to the Director of the EDH, M. Valdemar, the results already achieved during the interim period of receipt, show that powered clients, especially those in the industrial area have reliable service and better in the coming days.
The President of the Republic recalls to consumers and benefit primarily the need to protect energy, vital to economic development. He urges them to meet their consumer’s obligations to the institution.
