NEW YORK, New York, USA (sentinel.ht) – A children’s book about the Haitian revolution? Why not. Frantz Derenoncourt Jr decided he would author Haiti: The First Black Republic and with illustrations by Eminence System has put some history in front of young children.

The issue of self discovery – specifically, when searching for you cultural connection to the world at large – is a reason, writes Lapacazo Sandoval in Essence, that Frantz Derenoncourt, Jr. wrote his book.

The book was published in January of 2016 and has become a “brisk” seller for many book stores including Sankofa Book Store and Cafe and other Black owned stores. Sandoval had a one on one interview with Derenoncourt that can be read in full here.
