PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – On Saturday, the LAPEH political party denounced the arrest of Rapper Izolan and other members of its party, including the candidate for deputy of Petion-Ville, Jacques Vilsaint.
André Fadot, an official in the Jude Celestin campaign candidate for president, denounced the arrest by police calling it “arbitrary”. The arrest comes at a time of growing repression against demonstrators of discontent at results of a trouble electoral process.
Fadot said that the member of Barikad Crew, Izolan, has since been released from jail but the police continue to hold other members of the LAPEH party.
André Fadot, a well known activist in popular sections of Port-au-Prince, told the public about a climate of repression that is taking hold in Haiti.
Tens of thousand have been clashing with police in demonstrations denouncing the results of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of Pierre Louis Opont.
The very unpopular and totalitarian regime of President Michel Martelly had its candidate win the first round of presidential elections with a whopping 32% of the vote.
