NEW JERSEY, USA (sentinel.ht) – Wyclef Jean, absent from Haiti and the public eye for a number of years, was out of silence, Monday, with a new song, an endorsement for Jude Celestin for president.
Jean made his choice through a song called Lè Ya Rivé (The Time has Come). On the track he says he has been bothered by candidates looking for his support, leaving messages on his phone.
He said, “it’s Celestin I will vote”.
Wyclef Jean caused a commotion in the political party, Inite, of former President Rene Preval in 2010, which had as its presidential candidate, Jude Celestin.
The hip-hop star was first upset that Inite and Preval had worked to oust him from the 2010 elections unfairly. Wyclef Jean also made a song hostile to Preval and the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) called Gade Yo Bay Wyclef Kane.
It deserves noting that the CEP today is presided by Pierre Louis Opont who served as director general of the institution in 2010.
