PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (sentinel.ht) – The interim Secretary General of the National Confederation of Haitian Vaudouisante said the vodou sector would not be sending a representative to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to replace Nehemie Joseph.
Euvonie Georges Auguste, who is leading the sector after the passing of Max Beauvoir, said the lack of credibility of the CEP is why the sector would not name a replacement electoral council.
On Monday, an organization calling itself the National Commission for the Restructuring of Voodoo (CONAVO) sent a choice to President Michel Martelly to replace Joseph.
Euvonie Georges said her sector does not recognize the appointment by CONAVO. At the time when Nehemie Joseph was appointed, the national confederation had protested that it was not involved in the appointment either, saying the peasant sector made the decision that was accepted by the Martelly administration.
The National Association of Haitian Peasants (ANAPAH), representing the choice of the peasant sector, which shares the nomination decision with the vodouists wrote the president as well with an appointment to replace Nehemie Joseph.
